Welcome to the Family, Cookie!

Our cute baby was born on Sunday, June 20 at 34 weeks and 5 days. A little early, but what a nice Father's Day present, right?

It's been a while...

So what's new?

We remain in Oakland and things haven't changed too much. The biggest change is probably that we're expecting a new baby sometime this summer. (photo below)

We're at around 14 weeks so it's still pretty early, but so far, so good! And, unless we name this one Tyson, I guess I'll have to figure out how to change the name of this blog...

How to Make a Dog Cry

Rain in sweater

Rain in sweater 2

Poor little Rain dog. I couldn't resist knitting her a sweater. It fits her perfectly and I think she looks so, so cute in it. She does not like it at all.

She sat perfectly still for 10 minutes when I put it on her. It may look like she moved because she's facing the opposite way in the second picture, but it was I who picked her up and turned her around so the sun would light her up a little more. She was absolutely stiff - except for a little trembling - while the sweater was on her. I was hoping she would get use to it, but her eyes got watery and she looked like she was going to burst into tears, so, no matter how adorable the sweater looked on her, I had to remove it. Luckily, she immediately sprang back to her old self when the sweater was off.

I'll try again tomorrow. I hope she'll eventually realize that sweaters are fun!

Snow Days!

We recently had a super time playing in the snow up in Bear Valley! We rented a house with our friends Mag, Carlo, Andrea, and Gabe, and their kids Adrian, Simon, David, and Sadie.

When we first arrived, I was a little skeptical about the place. The house itself was great, but they don't plow the roads in Bear Valley's residential areas. This meant a short walk dragging sleds with our stuff in them to the house. Since we got there on a Friday evening, it was getting dark and the walk, which was only about a block and 1/2, seemed pretty long. The snow/ice was a bit slippery, too so there were a couple tumbles on the way.

In the morning, however, the surroundings were beautiful and the location was great. In the sunlight the walk to the car and Bear Valley Village was no problem at all! Below are some pics/videos from our snow trip. We were surprised at how daring our little sledder was and hope to get back there again next winter!

Here's a video of tyson and Adrian's first attempt at sledding...

Here's one after they got good at it!

And, the Big Race!
