Welcome to the Family, Cookie!

Our cute baby was born on Sunday, June 20 at 34 weeks and 5 days. A little early, but what a nice Father's Day present, right?

It's been a while...

So what's new?

We remain in Oakland and things haven't changed too much. The biggest change is probably that we're expecting a new baby sometime this summer. (photo below)

We're at around 14 weeks so it's still pretty early, but so far, so good! And, unless we name this one Tyson, I guess I'll have to figure out how to change the name of this blog...

How to Make a Dog Cry

Rain in sweater

Rain in sweater 2

Poor little Rain dog. I couldn't resist knitting her a sweater. It fits her perfectly and I think she looks so, so cute in it. She does not like it at all.

She sat perfectly still for 10 minutes when I put it on her. It may look like she moved because she's facing the opposite way in the second picture, but it was I who picked her up and turned her around so the sun would light her up a little more. She was absolutely stiff - except for a little trembling - while the sweater was on her. I was hoping she would get use to it, but her eyes got watery and she looked like she was going to burst into tears, so, no matter how adorable the sweater looked on her, I had to remove it. Luckily, she immediately sprang back to her old self when the sweater was off.

I'll try again tomorrow. I hope she'll eventually realize that sweaters are fun!

Snow Days!

We recently had a super time playing in the snow up in Bear Valley! We rented a house with our friends Mag, Carlo, Andrea, and Gabe, and their kids Adrian, Simon, David, and Sadie.

When we first arrived, I was a little skeptical about the place. The house itself was great, but they don't plow the roads in Bear Valley's residential areas. This meant a short walk dragging sleds with our stuff in them to the house. Since we got there on a Friday evening, it was getting dark and the walk, which was only about a block and 1/2, seemed pretty long. The snow/ice was a bit slippery, too so there were a couple tumbles on the way.

In the morning, however, the surroundings were beautiful and the location was great. In the sunlight the walk to the car and Bear Valley Village was no problem at all! Below are some pics/videos from our snow trip. We were surprised at how daring our little sledder was and hope to get back there again next winter!

Here's a video of tyson and Adrian's first attempt at sledding...

Here's one after they got good at it!

And, the Big Race!

Let's Bring This Thing Up-To-Date!

The end of 2007 and the beginning of 2008 have flown by. It feels like we've been frantically busy, but I'm not sure what we've been up to! Let's see if some of these pics can jog my memory...

Hang Your Stockings!

I think this has been the most Christmassy Christmas I've ever experienced - at least that I can remember! There have been Christmas performances, including a Christmas Ballet Folklorico Dance performance we went to as a field trip with tyson's pre-school. There have been visits to Santa, carousels, parties, and lots of shopping for toys! We've also had lots of fun decorating our house and finding other houses and streets with lots of holiday characters and lights. Christmas is really fun when there's a three year old in the house. I doubt that tyson will remember any of it, but at least he'll be able to look at the pictures when he gets older... and you can look at them now! Click HERE, HERE, HERE, and HERE!

Is that Jingle Bells I hear?

(ooops! for some reason I didn't post this entry back in early december when I wrote it...)

We got our Christmas Tree yesterday! After attending a fun birthday party for his friend, Hedy, tyson helped pick it out and then decorate it... here are some pics, as usual. Happy Holidays!

Celebrating Tyson's Third Birthday!

We had a wonderful time celebrating our guy's third birthday last week. There was a visit from Grandma Betty, a school ceremony, a dinner at Fenton's Ice Cream, and his super-fun airplane party. I'm amazed at how fast he's changing and growing - every day he surprises me with the things he says and does. I've loved every minute of these past three years and feel so lucky to get to be a part of tyson's awesome adventures! Check out this LINK for more pics!
